Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Accommodation Manager to oversee the daily operations supporting young people within housing projects and the community, to equip them with the skills to live independently. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards. Main Responsibilities



Young People



To provide an effective, engaging and supportive environment for young people to flourish To be responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of support to young people within the accommodation and in the community To ensure that new residents are welcomed and individual support needs both emergency and long term are robustly and continually assessed To ensure that a programme of meaningful engagement activities takes place to help young people to learn skills for life including the Tenant Accreditation Programme delivery To ensure that young people are at the heart of service delivery including ensuring the young people are an intrinsic part of delivering, improving and managing the service in the area To ensure that service delivery meets contractual demands including monitoring and reporting To work with the Operations Manager and the Director, Housing and Support to effectively work within the Safeguarding policy and procedures and to promote Safeguarding of young people at all times

Housing Management



To work closely with the Operations Manager to provide a high quality compliant Housing Management service for both owned and leased properties in the Street and Mendip West area Working closely with the Finance Team to monitor the rent accounts and take necessary action to maximise rental income, rental collection and Housing Benefit across the Street and East Mendip area including weekly rent reporting To monitor occupancy within the accommodation and take action to minimise voids To work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure that maintenance and repairs are undertaken swiftly and efficiently To work with the Operations Manager to ensure that adequate furniture and fittings are provided for all accommodation To liaise with landlords as required to notify and report repairs or maintenance issues To work closely with Somerset County Council and other referral partners to ensure young people are matched and placed appropriately within Street and West Mendip attending 16+ Allocations Panel and other multi-agency meetings as required To work with the Operations Manager to ensure that statistical and qualitative data is collected and collated as required for contractual requirements and internal management information To lead on managing systems, policies and procedures relating to housing management for young people including evictions, warnings and court proceedings within the Street and East Mendip area To work closely with Operation Manager to ensure that any quality and statistical returns for external regulatory bodies are delivered e.g. Housing Ombudsman, Ofsted etc.

Staff Management



To manage staffing team in Street and Mendip West area both paid staff and volunteers To ensure the direction, motivation and training for all staff in Street and Mendip West To ensure that the successful operational delivery by ensuring adequate numbers of staffing including managing rotas and shift patterns of staff at all times day and night To ensure that staff are adequately inducted, trained and knowledgeable to carry out their work To recruit, induct and train staff as necessary to ensure high quality service delivery and in compliance with HR policy and procedures To instigate and maintain adequate numbers of volunteers in the Street and East Mendip area that complement paid staff whilst providing a valuable volunteering experience To line manage Accommodation and Support staff, cleaners and night staff as required including regular documented supervision sessions and annual appraisals To work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure the consistent application of the agreed Psychologically Informed Environment including working with the P2i Psychologists and prioritising clinical supervision

Financial/Administrative



To work closely with the Operations Manager to monitor the budget in the Street and Mendip West area and identify any areas of concern To work with staff to ensure that financial policies and procedures are adhered to To produce statistical reports that are accurate, reliable and of a high standard including weekly rent reports To work with the Operations Manager to ensure that records and files are maintained appropriately and in accordance with GDPR requirements To lead on the Electronic Client Database system in the Street and Mendip West area providing and identifying training as needed

Health and Safety



To ensure that staff and young people in services are kept as safe as possible in line with the organisations Health and Safety policy and procedures and relevant legislation To work closely with the Risk and Compliance Team and Facilities Manager to promote health and safety throughout the service so that Health and Safety is 'everyone's business' and that any defects, repairs or safety issues are reported immediately To maintain up to date knowledge about Health and Safety to a level that enables you to perform your role To understand and promote the proper use and maintenance of all equipment and to ensure that all breakdowns/failures are reported immediately in accordance with Health and Safety policy To ensure that repairs are reported and carried out in accordance with project needs to minimise voids and ensure the quality of accommodation standards To ensure that staff and volunteers are trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of Health and Safety that is relevant to their roles To ensure that Health and Safety incidents, accidents and near misses are recorded and carry out changes to services as identified To work with Operations Manager to be part of workplace investigations as required To identify and report any changes or improvements in Health and Safety as necessary

To maintain a positive culture to enable a cooperative relationships throughout the organisation To work closely with Director, Housing and Support, Operations Manager and the other Accommodation and Support Managers as part of the Housing and Support Management Team across Mendip and South Somerset as well as colleagues in Bristol and Bath To attend internal meetings as required To maintain effective relationships with other members of the staff team, paid, voluntary and committee members To establish and maintain good relationships with young people in our services

External



To represent the good image of YMCA Mendip and South Somerset with external partners and the local community including our neighbours To liaise with voluntary and statutory agencies, community groups and to make presentations and attend occasional community and fundraising or promotional events To work closely with YMCA colleagues in the local area and nationally as required To work closely with District Council and County Council colleagues as required To maintain and build on existing relationships with external agencies for the benefit of young people and for the reputation of YMCA Mendip and South Somerset within the Street and Mendip West area

Limits of Scope and Authority



Will be responsible for operating within agreed budgets with authority to authorise expenditure not exceeding an agreed amount Will assist in the promotion of the YMCAs Aims and Purposes in the operation of the schemes. Policy is determined by the Board of Management and the Worker will operate within agreed YMCA Policy, but will have an input into this. Will ensure the project operates within agreed boundaries set up by the Board of Management of YMCA Mendip and South Somerset

Skills



Experience working within a residential support environment would be would be highly desirable.

Ability to drive and possess a valid driving licence for transporting clients. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and their families. Empathy and patience when dealing with individuals facing physical or cognitive challenges. Familiarity with case management principles and practices is an advantage.

Salary -

32,402.00
