Role Summary
Account Manager role that sits within the Account Management Team at Play, specialising in managing and activating partnerships and sponsorships.
An integrated role spanning brief handling, activation, planning and project managing the day to day delivery of creative solutions, social and partnerships including: content production, tech, digital, radio, talent, influencers, print, brand-to-brand and TV partnerships.
Purpose of Role
The Account Manager is the central "cog" of the team. It is the responsibility of the AM to both manage up and delegate out to ensure their accounts run as smoothly as possible. Through identifying actions and completing in a timely manner, the AM must stay on top of the day-to-day workload of the account and ensure all AEs & SAEs are delivering to a high standard.
It is vital for the Account Manager to build and demonstrate strong working relationships not only with their core client team but also act as the main day-to-day contact for the client who should have complete confidence in the AMs ability to run the account and work in the best interests of their brand. The client and planning teams should trust their opinion/counsel and see them as a vital member of the team.
Good relationships with media owners across all platforms - print, TV, radio, digital including sponsorships, promotions, editorial content & experiential activation is required. You'll be required to support the Havas Play team to deliver outstanding campaign delivery from start to finish.
The AM role requires strong- interpersonal skill, managing the demands of both clients, internal teams and third party agencies to maximise partnership opportunities. You should be exceptional project managers in a creative and media environment, and with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
As an Account Manager, you should be confident in all of the areas laid out below:
Managing multiple accounts:Ability to take on multiple accounts and increased workloads through proof of delegation (both upwards and downwards) of tasks and responsibilities.
Working across multiple clients and projects at one time whilst maintaining a high work standard. Staying calm and displaying a positive attitude whilst under pressure, and successfully delegating in order to keep work manageable
Writing and Presentation Skills:Have strong creative and corporate writing skills, to be used across external documents such as client proposals and reports, as well as internal documents such as toolkits and case studies
Have a keen eye for detail and ensure all media plans and written work is delivered to a high standard of quality
Although still developing skills in the area you should already be condifent leading presentations, talking clients though a document or pitching an idea
Ideas should be presented with confidence, to instill confidence in the client and "sell" the idea
You should be able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing throughout internal and client-facing comms
Approach, Initiative & problem solving:Be positive, proactive and solution-driven - always thinking one step ahead
Take ownership and feel fully accountable for day-to-day operations
Develop the ability to both identify and solve problems before your ADs or clients do. When highlighting a problem always have a view of what a solution might be
Always think ahead having your clients and brands front of mind
In conjunction with fellow Managers and Directors, work with key partners to identify new products and innovations our clients should be testing, to ensure your clients activity is best in class
Actively seek out new trends, industry updates and product launches and share with wider team
Excellent negotiation skills to drive the best value for our clients
Relationships:Clients & Partners: Upmost importance is a strong working relationship with your client and external parties and media owners
Inter-Agency: AMs must also develop solid day-to-day working relationships with all teams within the agency, knowing how to work with different departments such as strategy, insights and creative, and following the processes of these teams as relevant across client work and when organising a pitch response
Suppliers & Agencies: In addition to this, the AM needs to develop strong relationships with external contacts such as media owners, tech, partner agencies and other suppliers, investing time into nurturing and growing these to maximise opportunities
Strategic skills and responding to client & new business briefs:Understanding of the planning process and how to respond to a brief with clear strategic thinking
Beginning to understand how to interrogate and answer a brief creatively and effectively communicate these to media partners
Confidently produce and articulate recommendations and response to briefs to clients
Campaign execution & Administration:Build skills and confidence to plan, organise and manage activations, including partner and rights activation, management of live events, content generation, influencer engagement and coordinating suppliers
Competently manage the end to end process of campaigns, from brief, delivery and evaluation
Oversee status reports and ensure that they are delivered to the client on time
Write activation & planning timelines - develop critical paths for projects
Write and manage budgets
Act as central point of client liaison for all campaigns being project managed
Quality control check and take full ownership of the output of your Executives as part of the project management of campaigns
Ensure every campaign you pick up to manage has a clear set of measurable outcomes and that all parties (client, client teams and partners) are agreed on these outcomes / KPI's. You will be responsible for working alongside the partner to meet and exceed any agreed targets.
Work with the Account Director / Client Lead to ensure that campaigns are delivered with the original strategic concept in mind - and the campaign continues to reflect this
You should take responsibility to arrange and chair any required campaign performance meetings between all parties
Client services & Industry Knowledge:Grow your knowledge base in response to your clients, sector and key projects (e.g. tech & innovation in communication for EE/BT)
Flag anything that may be of interest to your clients - competitor activity, news relating to brand ambassadors, media insights etc.
Stay abreast of new innovations within the industry to be able to contribute effectively in brainstorms and take new opportunities/ideas to your AD
You will have a strong understanding of wider services within Havas Play and beyond, and be able to run projects to great affect with the right checks and measures
People ManagementManagement of day-to-day running of the team including keeping all members of the team up-to-date with account work and ensure that regular internal status meetings are arranged
Giving clear guidance to your AEs, from initial briefing, through to providing feedback and support along the way
Time ManagementEffective time management is essential. Ensure that you are delivering work on time and are conscientious with deadlines.
Flag any pinch points on your accounts to your ADs to ensure that the standard of your work is not being affected.
Be aware of time across other team members/AEs and support them in managing their time to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
FinanceGood knowledge of the Havas Play commercial model
Good knowledge of wider Havas Media commercial models i.e. barter
Be fully competent with the finance processes; including setting up new job numbers, processing POs and invoices.
Working with suppliers to obtain cost estimates and supporting your AD to generate SOW documents for client sign off.
Negotiating with suppliers and interrogating costs to ensure best options for both Havas Play and our clients.
Managing project budgets, flagging issues of over or under spend in good time.
Working with you AD to start learning how to prepare fee proposals.
Accurate and efficient timesheet reporting
Competent in Havas Play systems Pulse, JIRA and Sync
