Based in Wednesbury in the West Midlands, Nicklin Transit Packaging is a family-owned business specialising in the design and manufacture of a wide range of bespoke transit packaging solutions. Our products include timber crates, cases, pallets, stillages and heavy duty corrugated packaging. Building strong relationships with our customers is at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to serve some of the leading manufacturers across the Midlands.

Over the past 12 months we have focused on improving our internal structures and processes, including the way we manage our sales team. To ensure we can accommodate our plans for growth over the next 5 years and beyond we have an opportunity for an experienced Account Manager to join the team.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



You will be responsible for achieving sales within your territory by overseeing a portfolio of existing customers as well as generating new business within your patch. Your sales will cover a wide variety of requirements, products, volumes and spends, you will always need to maintain high levels of customer service as our name and reputation have been built over a 100 years, and as an experienced transit packaging supplier. You will constantly be looking to develop additional sales or further opportunities with our customers, as well as ensuring you achieve acceptable margins for the business.

Specifically, you will:



Develop a thorough understanding of our business, products and strategy. Ensure the needs of your existing clients are understood, managed and maintained to a high standard. Ensure clients expectations are met regarding product design and performance. Work closely with the design and innovation team to ensure we turn around quotations and enquiries as quickly as possible. Know your territory and understand the opportunities you have available within it. Gather and record market and customer information. Identify areas for improvement with our customer base and explore new product ranges, services or innovative ideas. Forecast and track account spends and usage figures and quickly react to any fluctuations, changes or opportunities. Arrange prospect and/or client visits. Present to prospects and clients at all levels. Generate sales leads and appointments for new business. Manage new accounts. Close deals to secure new business. Maximise revenue and profit and set objectives and targets for each of your customer accounts. Support to implement price increases to both your own and colleague's customers. Perform in line with deadlines and budgets. Work with the sales coordinators to ensure the smooth running of all accounts with orders, schedules and deliveries.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



You don't need to have specific industry experience, but you will have:

A strong background in sales, specifically for manufactured products that need to be designed and made to order. A proven track record in managing your territory and achieving sales with a combination of new and existing accounts. The focus to grow and developing existing clients while trying to generate new business opportunities. The experience, skill and ability to build, create and maintain long lasting client relationships with key customers and contacts. A well organised and confident approach and a natural 'can do' attitude. A good eye for detail and creative flair. The skill to act as a key interface between the customer and all our relevant internal departments, from accounts through to production and transport. A commercial understanding to deliver maximised profit with your customers and a naturally inquisitive mind that enables you to look into and explore new designs and products that meet everyone's needs.

Due to the nature of our business, this role will require regional travel and visits to our head office in Wednesbury. This is a home-based position.
