Blyth Accountants is a growing, forward-thinking accountancy practice based in the Glasgow area, supporting owner-managed businesses and individuals with a full range of compliance and advisory services. We place strong emphasis on quality, efficiency, and relationships, using modern cloud-based systems and clear processes to deliver a high standard of service. As part of our continued growth, and in anticipation of securing a new commercial office in the outskirts of Glasgow, we are expanding our senior team.
The Role
We are seeking a fully qualified accountant to join the practice in a senior, full-time role commencing in April. The position will involve managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing a growing team, with responsibility for ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and in line with deadlines. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with a requirement to work from the office for three out of five days each week, subject to business needs.
There will be a structured client handover at the outset, after which the successful candidate will be expected to manage their own workload with minimal supervision. Strong prioritisation skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy practice environment. A key part of the role is supporting and developing junior team members through review, guidance, and day-to-day management.
Requirements
Fully qualified accountant registered with a recognised professional body such as ACCA
Minimum of three years' post-qualification experience
Recent and relevant experience within an accountancy practice
Proven managerial experience with responsibility for supporting and overseeing junior team members
Strong working knowledge of TaxCalc, Engager, Xero, Dext, and BrightPay
Ability to work confidently across multiple systems and get up to speed quickly with minimal support
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Strong communication skills and a collaborative management style
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to work
Interest in improving processes and supporting the development of team members
Confidence in managing client relationships and workload autonomously
Remuneration
Salary for this role starts from 38,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Blyth Accountants offers ongoing CPD training and fully funded professional body memberships as part of our commitment to continuous development and high professional standards.
