Want to be at the heart of a dynamic, ambitious company?Berrywire Limited is based in Bridgwater, Somerset and provides Accounting Services and Support to our clients in UK, Guernsey, Malta, Bulgaria, Switzerland and US. We are looking for an experienced Accountant to assist the team from our UK Office.As one of our Accountants, you will be working as part of a small finance team dealing with several key responsibilities within Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking and Reporting.Who are you?You are part of the heart of the office: able to work independently, and as part of the team. You are eager to learn, pro-active, tenacious and gifted with a huge amount of common sense: you can identify what needs to be done and get on with doing in!Responsibilities:

  • Validation of approved invoices and booking to the accounting system, processing of payments and reconciliation of creditor balances (for several Companies)
  • Raising outgoing invoices and chasing settlement
  • Weekly payment runs
  • Bank reconciliation (for several currencies)
  • Credit card expense analysis, allocation and reconciliation
  • Cash forecasting of purchase ledger payments and cash receipts
  • Ledger reconciliations and raising correcting journals where required
  • Month end reporting (for several Companies) within set deadlines
  • Quarterly VAT return calculations (UK and Overseas Companies)
  • Assisting with Year-End closing
  • Providing support and cover for the Financial Controller
  • Ad hoc duties as required
Requirements and experience:
  • Ideally AAT or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Professional attitude with the ability to self-manage
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Good IT and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures (knowledge of Quickbooks a plus)
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
  • Proactive and enthusiastic with confidence to speak directly with clients.
