The Role - Accountant

As an accountant for our expanding group of companies, you will be tasked with the provision of accounting and statistical data to the senior management team as well as external bodies including banks, auditors, HMRC and ONS. In addition, you will manage the VAT and be instrumental in the import and export function of the business, knowledge within this area is essential.

Working within our growing accounts team, in an extremely fast paced environment, the key purpose of this position is to effectively plan and process timely reporting to senior management to enable continued decision making and planning for the business and wider Group of Companies.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will contribute to maintaining and developing the further needs of the department.

Key Responsibilities will include the following:

  • VAT, Import and Export administrative processes and associated payments.
  • Compilation and online submission of regulatory reports including the quarterly VAT returns, advance corporation tax payments and statutory import declarations.
  • Manage the day-to-day business utilities for commercial sites and properties, including reviewing prices on expiring contracts.
  • Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management. Produce accounting and statistical reports as required. Compile month end accruals ensuring management have accurate costs with which to prepare the periodic accounts.
  • Provide relevant & timely financial information to the Senior Management to enable a balanced assessment of the Group\'s strategy and objectives.
  • Responsibility for journals and final nominal balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers and other parties as directed by the Accounts Manager and other Senior Managers. Liaise with external bodies and provide required information.
The Person

We are looking for a dynamic level 4 AAT / part qualified individual with a desire to progress. As the successful candidate you will have the utmost respect for handling sensitive and confidential information and must have had practical proven experience within a similar role. This position requires someone who is able to work extremely well under pressure with meeting deadlines/targets and have strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
