Accounting Implementation & Support Specialist

Swansea, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

This job will be loved by a tech-savvy bookkeeper/accountant who enjoys problem-solving, software integrations, and helping clients -- and who wants more variety than a standard bookkeeping role.

25k-35k PA DOE | Full Time | Hybrid (Mainly Remote - You must live in South Wales / South West England for meet-ups)

We're looking for a financial mind to help onboard our customers' bookkeepers and accountants to our automotive dealership management software and manage our internal bookkeeping and account management needs day to day.

Our software integrates with the top accountancy apps by sending customer and supplier invoices, payments, and journal entries to them, which helps streamline and simplify dealers' lives. The role will involve demonstrating how the apps work together and helping set them up.

Responsibilities and Goals

Become an expert on DealerKit's reporting, accountancy and bookkeeping features and capabilities. Handle client bookkeeping and accounting queries, including VAT, invoicing, reconciliations, bookkeeping entries, periodic close procedures, and general ledger support. Lead on onboarding new clients: configure their Xero/Sage accounts, map their chart of accounts, import opening balances, set up VAT regimes, and integrate with our SaaS platform. Troubleshoot and support integration issues between accounting software and our system (data imports/exports, API issues, ledger mapping, synchronization). Provide training and documentation to customers on how to use the integrated solution correctly. Work with clients (car dealers) to understand their business model and advise on best practices for bookkeeping and accounting in a dealership context. Assist with VAT returns, compliance checking, and periodic financial reviews as needed. Act as a bridge between technical (development) and accounting users: translate accounting requirements into software requirements and vice versa. Provide first-line support for accounting-related software issues (help desk style), escalate more complex issues to development or third-party accounting experts. Educate and empower customers on how to improve their processes to become more efficient. Supporting other team members with accounting/bookkeeping questions and spreading your knowledge. Stay current with HMRC's current accounting legislation relating to the motor trade, especially the VAT margin scheme. Ask about, listen to and understand our customers' bookkeeping and accountancy challenges and further our customer feedback loop to allow us to improve our products and services through customer feedback and ideas.
Must have skills

Solid bookkeeping and accounting experience (ideally at least 2-5 years), including VAT, reconciliations, ledger entries, invoicing, etc. Practical working knowledge of Xero (Sage 50 knowledge is a huge bonus) Comfortable working with integrations/data transfer between systems (import/export, mapping, data validation). Good understanding of UK VAT rules, bookkeeping best practices and compliance requirements. Strong problem-solving skills; capable of troubleshooting technical issues and accounting discrepancies. Good communication skills -- able to explain accounting and technical processes clearly to non-accountants (clients). Ability to juggle multiple clients, keep documentation organised, and manage both day-to-day support and onboarding tasks.
Bonus skills

Experience in working within/for a car dealership. Experience using Sage 200, Sage Accounting and/or QuickBooks.
Perks and Other Requirements

You will be given a brand new company Mac. We'll cover your monthly Gym/Swim membership. Pension scheme included. Flexible working (childcare commitments and personal preference may be accommodated within reason) You can travel. Although this is a remote position, occasional travel / away time will be required. We hold quarterly in-person team retreats/meet-ups. You will be required to meet with team members and visit customers during your onboarding and orientation period, and you may be asked to visit customers occasionally. All travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed.
Who will love this job?

You get satisfaction out of finding why two figures are 1p out! You enjoy helping others learn and implement processes. You like working in a small team without corporate red tape and middle management. You like making things easier for customers and colleagues. If there's a roadblock, you want to smooth it away. Interacting with and helping people energises you. You know that everyone has trouble sometimes, and you seek to empower and educate our customers. You love reading and learning about new ways of doing things. There's always a better way. You're a positive person and know how to look on the bright side. You bring solutions to the table, not just problems. (But you aren't afraid to point out where we're going wrong). You're comfortable with a little chaos and uncertainty. We move fast!
