We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced In-House Accountant with a strong accounting foundation and extensive experience with Xero to join our finance team and support our financial operations with a high degree of accountability.

Job Summary



The In-House Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing accurate financial reports and ensuring compliance with regulations. This is an important role that supports Management and the business by delivering an efficient and accurate Accounting foundation. This role requires an understanding of accounting standards, exceptional accountability, extensive proficiency in Xero, and specific experience in the Software (SaaS) and services industry. The ideal candidate will excel in tasks such as VAT, PAYE, account reconciliations, vendor payments, journal entry booking, and accrual calculations, leveraging Xero and Excel for comprehensive financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Reporting

: Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS standards.

General Ledger Management

: Oversee and maintain the general ledger in Xero, including account reconciliations, journal entry calculation and booking, and month-end/year-end closings.

Vendor Payments

: Process and manage vendor payments via Xero, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

Customer Invoicing

: After mastering other tasks, this role has the opportunity to take ownership of customer invoicing.

Accrual Calculations

: Calculate and record accruals in Excel and booked into Xero to ensure accurate financial reporting. This includes commission, bonus, deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, etc.

Account Reconciliations

: Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts monthly, including cash, credit cards, prepaid expenses, deposits, deferred revenue, distributions, intercompany payables, etc

Accounts Payable and Receivable

: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes in Xero, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records.

Payroll Processing

: Oversee or support payroll process (performed by an external Advisor), ensuring accuracy and compliance with labour regulations.

VAT and PAYE Compliance

: Manage and file VAT and PAYE returns through Xero, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with relevant tax regulations.

Income Tax Compliance

: Collaborate with external Tax Advisor to prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Audit Support

: Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual financial audits, providing necessary Xero reports and underlying accrual calculations to facilitate efficient an audit.

Regulatory Compliance

: Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and regulations to ensure the company's financial practices remain compliant.

Process Improvement

: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes within Xero, implement best practices, and enhance financial reporting accuracy.

Budgeting and Forecasting

: Assist in developing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications



Industry Experience

: Mandatory experience in the Software (SaaS) and services industry. Applications without this experience will not be considered.

Education

: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification is preferred.

Experience

: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an in-house role within the Software (SaaS) and services sector, with extensive experience using Xero.

Accountability

: Proven track record of maintaining a high degree of accountability in managing financial records, meeting deadlines, and ensuring compliance.

Accounting Foundation

: Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, demonstrated through expertise in financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entry booking, and accrual calculations.

Xero Proficiency

: Extensive experience with Xero, including managing general ledger, VAT, PAYE, vendor payments, payroll, and financial reporting within the platform.

Technical Skills

: in addition to proficiency in Xero, this role requires a strong knowledge of efficiently leveraging Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with other accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or NetSuite) is a plus.

VAT and PAYE Expertise

: Demonstrated experience in managing VAT and PAYE processes, including accurate filings and compliance, using Xero.

Analytical Skills

: Strong ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.

Attention to Detail

: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in managing financial records and reports.

Communication

: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Time Management

: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Regulatory Knowledge

: Familiarity with IFRS, UK GAAP and relevant tax regulations, including VAT and PAYE.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 75,000.00-90,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in London WC1A 2TH
