What you'll be doing:
We are seeking an Accounting Technician to join our team at the Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility. This vital role supports the financial operations of the South Downs Contract, reporting to the Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
Review monthly management accounts for HWRS sites, Composting Facility, Haulage & Overheads
Assist with annual budget process
Process purchase orders and payments
Review contract tonnages and reconcile disposal charges
Handle sales invoicing
Support month-end processes and audit preparations
Provide Workday system support to operational teams
Prepare trial balances and balance sheet certifications
Liaise with suppliers on invoice and payment queries
What we are looking for:
Essential
Strong Excel/Google Sheets proficiency
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
Desirable
Currently studying towards an accounting qualification
Workday experience preferred
Previous experience in Haulage/Environmental waste services is advantageous
This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse operational teams and contribute to process improvements in a dynamic environment. While having no direct reports, the position involves providing guidance to administrative staff on financial and system matters.
