Accounting Technician

Who we are

At Alchemy Accountancy, you can expect to join a close-knit team within a modern and growing digital practice, working with fantastic small businesses, predominantly in the digital, creative and media sectors.

Our business exists to help these clients with all aspects of their financial operations. Our services range from data integrity and bookkeeping through to financial reporting, tax and business advisory. We use cloud tools like FreeAgent and Xero to keep things efficient, clear and collaborative.

What you'll do

You will be the face of Alchemy to a portfolio of our clients, and will be responsible for the delivery of our accountancy service. Your duties will include:

Form positive, friendly relationships with clients

Educate clients about their tax obligations and other statutory filing responsibilities

Coach clients to maintain accurate bookkeeping records

Inspire clients to make better business decisions based on up-to-date financial data

Preparation of statutory accounts and corporate tax returns

Preparation of payroll, VAT and self-assessment tax returns

Liaising with HMRC on client matters

Contribute to the improvement of our internal processes

Maintain accurate client records on our CRM system

What you'll need

At least 2 years' experience in an accountancy practice environment

To be qualified to AAT level 4 or studying towards ACCA (or equivalent)

Excellent literacy, numeracy, and communication skills

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload

A high attention to detail and great problem-solving skills

A desire to do things right, always

An eye for automation and efficiency

A thirst for learning new things

What you'll get

28-34k per annum (depending on qualification and experience)
