We pride ourselves on a culture of performance, collaboration, and professionalism, and we are looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team and support the club's day-to-day financial operations.
Role Overview
The Accounts Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records relating to the Club's purchase and sales ledgers. The role will support the smooth running of the finance function, ensuring suppliers are paid on time, customers pay the Club on time, revenue and costs are tracked efficiently, and records are maintained in compliance with internal procedures and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Process and record supplier invoices in a timely and accurate manner
Match purchase orders and delivery notes to invoices
Prepare and process payment runs (BACS and other methods)
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies
Maintain the purchase ledger inbox and respond to supplier queries promptly
Process and record customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner
Maintain the sales ledger inbox and respond to customer queries
Send out customer statements and chase outstanding debt
Assist with month-end procedures including accruals and reporting
Ensure all transactions comply with financial policies and approval processes
Support the Finance Manager and wider finance team with ad hoc tasks
Essential Skills and Experience
Proven experience in a similar purchase ledger or accounts payable role
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Good knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, or equivalent)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of VAT and basic accounting principles
Desirable
Experience working within a sports, hospitality, or events environment
AAT or equivalent accounting qualification (or working towards)

Location
Based at Bath Rugby's Head Office, Farleigh House (BA2 7RW), with occasional attendance required at The Rec in Bath city centre. Due to the rural location and limited public transport, applicants must live within commuting distance and have access to their own transport.
