Job Description

THE ROLE

Trefoil Tutors are looking to employ a part-time Accounts Assistant to join our growing team, starting in the second half of the Autumn Term. The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day company finances and will report to the Director of Accounts.

We offer fixed hours and a dynamic working environment within the Accounts team, with the opportunity to take on wider administrative responsibilities, including supporting the office team and assisting with new client registration, depending on the candidate's skills and interests.



The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Ensuring continuous oversight of the day-to-day bookkeeping tasks Preparing and issuing invoices Collecting and processing payments Liaising with new and existing clients regarding payments and refunds Monitoring income and expenditure in line with the annual budget plan Preparing financial information in response to ad-hoc requests and specific projects Preparing financial information required for VAT return and processing of annual accounts Processing salary and expenses payments to staff Liaising with company accountants when required Checking students in and out of lessons Supporting the office team with administrative and lesson logistics tasks Undertaking other tasks that arise throughout the course of the academic year.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following requirements and skills:

Required

Educated to degree-level or equivalent Excellent numeracy, literacy and ICT skills Proficiency in using the MS Office package and Google Workspace, with excellent MS Excel and Google Sheets skills Resourcefulness and a willingness to adapt to ever-changing requirements of varied stakeholders

Keen attention to detail

Strong financial management skills Strong time management skills with an ability to prioritise work
Desirable

Accounting qualification or considerable experience of financial management Familiarity with SAGE Accounting package Proven work experience in a similar role Knowledge of accounting procedures and best practices Experience working with children or in the education sector - whether paid or voluntary Excellent analytical skills and experience creating reports and presentations

Experience in handling day-to-day communications, including phone calls, emails, and parent liaison


ABOUT THE COMPANY

Trefoil Tutors was founded in 2011 with the aim of bringing a new level of professionalism to tutoring in North London. We are incredibly proud of the quality of teaching and learning we deliver across a range of different subjects in order to augment and support the work done at school with our structured schemes of work and bespoke resources. A decade on, our full-time tutors now teach over 330 students a week in Mathematics, English, Reasoning, Science and Economics.

We pride ourselves in not being a "tutoring agency" but rather qualified teachers and experienced tutors who see tutoring as a vocation in itself. Our tutors are supported by a full-time administrative team who assist the tutors in order to ensure they can spend their time focusing on delivering outstanding teaching and learning. Lessons take place weekly during term-time and are taught in purpose-built classrooms at our office in Elstree.

Hours



This is a part-time role based on a 10-hour weekly schedule split across two days. The successful candidate can expect to work either:

Fridays 4:00pm - 9:30pm

Sunday 9:30am - 2:30pm/ 3:30pm - 9pm


OR

Fridays 4:00pm-9:30pm

Any other weekday from 4:00pm-9:30pm


Weeks and timetable



The contract is based on

43 weeks

throughout a calendar year following our termly schedule. There is potential for additional work to be undertaken outside of term-time in the weeks dedicated to planning and preparation.

START DATE

The ideal candidate will be ready to start the role in November 2025; however, the start date can be negotiated with the right candidate. The role is permanent with a six-month probation period.

The role is subject to successful reference checks and an Enhanced DBS check.

Pay: 25,500.00-27,000.00 per year
