The role involves maintaining an efficient, organised and accurate finance function for the business through undertaking a variety of day-to-day financial operations such as sales and purchase ledgers and bookkeeping. This is a reactive role that will change with the needs, growth and direction of the company. This is a part-time position. Salary is based on experience.
Key responsibilities:
Complete bank & cash reconciliations
Maintaining spreadsheets
Liaising with Suppliers ensuring invoices are received and correct
Generating customer invoices and obtaining payments
Running Payroll
Managing Pension & Payroll contributions
Providing up to date Creditor / Debtor reports
Providing monthly reports to management detailing financial performance
Preparation and submission of VAT returns
Assisting with the preparation of annual accounts and liaising with external accountants
Liaising with the Bank where necessary
Manage cash flow ensuring financial commitments of the Company are being met
Assist with insurance claims if/when required;
Supporting the operational and commercial functions of the businesses;
Assisting other members of the team with various tasks;
Enter and code financial transactions appropriately
Checks all financial transactions for accuracy
Managing petty cash
Providing administrative support to the team
Receiving and dealing with emails.
Answering the phones and directing enquiries. Taking messages and fielding calls.
Help maintain filing systems
Other responsibilities as and when required
Person Specification
Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with two years experience of a busy accounts environment.
Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
Computer literate with an aptitude for numbers. Experience using Sage and Quickbooks.
Understanding of bookkeeping and accountancy procedures
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts
Have a strong work ethic and be a goal orientated, self-motivated team player.
Have the ability to bring an upbeat personality into the workplace and, always maintain a positive attitude towards customers and colleagues.
Have an ability to work independently.
Polite, professional and confident phone manner.
A highly organised individual who can manage several tasks at once and with a high attention to detail. Needs to be proactive and efficient.
Must have good administration and time management skills to maintain workload and paperwork in an effective and controlled manner.
Discretion - To maintain sensitive company information.
Good clear spoken and accurate written English skills.
Flexible approach with the ability to think on your feet, resolve issues and prioritise responsibly to manage own workload.
