The Spruce Enterprises Group currently includes two charities Spruce Carpets Ltd and Second Opportunities Ltd, both are focused on our dual mission: getting reusable goods into the hands of low-income households and boosting the diversion rates of materials from landfill as part of Scotland Circular Economy efforts. We also run two commercial companies that, while not charities, support our broader charitable, environmental and social goals.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team. As a member of our team, we're eager to see how you'll help us develop and enhance our impact by ensuring our day-to-day finance operations run smoothly and efficiently. Working as part of a small multi-disciplinary team and reporting to the Finance Manager we need someone who works well as part of a team, is flexible, has a sound working knowledge of Sage 50, has great experience in purchase and sales ledger operations, and can lend their voice to help make our day-to-day finance operations as strong and efficient as possible.
Duties will include:
Purchase Ledger Duties
Assisting operations team with purchase order raising.
Matching purchase orders to invoices and credit notes identifying any discrepancies.
Processing supplier invoices.
Reconciliation of supplier statements.
Collating of petty cash and staff expenses.
Reconciling monthly credit card statement.
Preparing payment runs.
Sales Ledger Duties
Matching sales orders to sales invoices and credit notes identifying any discrepancies.
Processing sales invoices on Sage.
Processing remittance advices from customers.
Review and reconcile debtors and carry out credit control procedures.
Other Duties
Monitoring of the finance mailbox.
Assisting the operations team with ordering and stock administration.
Assisting the Finance Manager with month end.
Skills & Experience required
Previous experience in a finance or accounting support role.
Relevant experience with SAGE 50 Accounts.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Competent with Microsoft Excel.
Other Information
The post will be based within our office/warehouse facility in Glasgow's South West within very easy reach of the local train station (Nitshill) and bus routes. Whilst the role will be based within our Head Office Monday through Friday with occasional hybrid working which can be discussed as part of wider working patterns
Holidays commence at 20-days per annum, rising by one day per annum to a maximum of 25 plus 10 days public holiday.
