Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Work Location: Transcal Limited, Livingston

Your main purpose is:



To provide financial and operational support across key business functions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintenance of accounting records, and coordination with production teams. The role plays a vital part in maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers, supporting production, and ensuring reliable reporting and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:



Maintaining the purchase ledger, including processing supplier invoices and setting up new supplier accounts in a timely and accurate manner. Raising purchase orders and issuing them to suppliers in accordance with internal procedures. Preparing and issuing sales invoices and pro forma invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer requirements. Supporting the production team by creating and maintaining stock items, updating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), generating new works orders, and ensuring these are communicated effectively to the production team. Performing bank reconciliations for two non-group entities, ensuring financial accuracy and timely reporting. Producing monthly management accounts for two non-group entities, contributing to the overall financial oversight of the business. Assisting with the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns for multiple entities, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations. Supporting the year-end financial audit, including the preparation of schedules, responding to auditor queries, and providing necessary documentation. Undertaking other ad hoc duties as required to support the finance and operations teams.

Qualifications



Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. Good numeracy and literacy skills. Great communication skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook. A solid understanding of financial transactions or a willingness to learn.

Previous Experience



Candidates must have prior experience working in an accounts office environment.

Desired qualities / attributes



Experience using Sage 200 for financial processes and reporting. Familiarity with Sicon Manufacturing modules and their integration with Sage 200.
