We are a small retail company based in London, which has a vacancy for a commercially astute financial Accounts Assistant. In order to support the next stage of rapid growth, it seeks an experienced accounts candidate to take on responsibility for the implementation and management of financial accounting and management activities across the company.
About the role
Reporting to the Company Director, you will take the lead on reporting and compliance for the function, providing corporate financial services and support to the Line of Business management team in key decision-making processes.
Your key deliverables will include:
Continually improve the financial reporting outputs, taking the initiative and leadership to deliver improved services at lower cost
Move the wider teams across all geographies to a common approach to reporting, utilising best practice where it exists
Manage the preparation and presentation of financial results and forecasts including monthly reporting packs, strategic plan financials, budgets and forecasts
Prepare monthly income statements, order book, cash and working capital variance analysis and commentary, utilising both financial and operational information from across the business
Ensure that all financial and management reporting information is delivered accurately in an appropriate format and in a timely manner to the Management Team
Co-ordinate internal reporting timetable across the business units
Monitor and ensure consistent application of reporting and accounting standards for all internal and external reporting, including the provision of Financial Accounting papers to support accounting treatment
Develop and monitor cash forecasts for business unit
The opportunity:
Reporting to the Director and supported by an assistant, the financial controller will play a key role in the company's expansion. Your goal will be to create an effective financial control and reporting function to keep the business on track. This will include looking after all aspects of finance including defining, setting up and maintaining budgets and forecasts, management accounts, KPIs and dashboards for the executive team to control and manage the business.
To be considered:
This career-changing financial controller role, you must be capable of taking responsibility for the company's day-to-day financial operations, compliance and reporting and cash flow management. You will be qualified or a finalist ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant and financial controller / finance manager with at least 3 years of experience. Ideally you will be experienced in payroll, revenue recognition, budgeting and modelling, costing and pricing, and segmental reporting. You will be self-motivated, pro-active, and capable of working within a fast moving and demanding environment.

We would like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
Finalist/Qualified accountant - ACCA / ACA / CIMA or equivalent
Proven experience in finance leadership position(s)
Strong stakeholder management skills
Excellent numeric, analytical and technical skills
