This role is ideal for someone who has some experience within the practice Accountancy field. As an Accounts Assistant, you will work closely with the Accounts team and manager to deliver exceptional services to our clients while developing the skills and knowledge you need to thrive in your career.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Preparation:
Prepare financial statements and accounts for a range of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss accounts, and cash flow statements.
Tax Compliance:
Assist with the preparation and filing of VAT returns, CIS returns, corporate tax returns, and personal tax returns.
Identify potential tax planning opportunities and escalate to senior team members.
Client Communication:
Liaise directly with clients to collect financial information, resolve accounting queries, and ensure efficient delivery of services.
Provide clients with basic financial advice and recommendations based on their accounts and tax returns.
Software and Systems Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records using accounting software (such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero).
Ensure data accuracy and integrity in financial records and reports.
Identify efficiencies in processes and recommend improvements.
Support Senior Staff:
Assist the senior accountant in various projects and advisory services.
Provide administrative support, including document preparation and report compilation.
Skills & Attributes
Qualifications:
Minimum Level 3 AAT qualified or equivalent professional qualification (or actively studying).
Technical Skills:
Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Microsoft Excel.
Other Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an accountancy firm or similar environment. - Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
