An opportunity has arisen within our finance department for a full-time position of an Accounts Assistant.
The hours are
34.5
hours a week. A Working Pattern of Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm:
Monday - Thursday - 7 hours
Fridays - 6.5 hours:
9 am - 4:30PM (30-minute break)
OR
9am - 5PM (1 Hour break)
9 am - 4:00PM (30 -minute break)
OR
9am - 4:30PM (1 Hour break)
Main Responsibilities:
Day to day sales ledger and credit control, including:
Setting up new customer accounts, credit checking and maintaining existing customer records
Ensure all sales documentation is sent promptly and correctly including uploaded documents and data into customer portals
Monitor customer accounts and proactively contact customers for timely payment of invoices and to chase overdue debts
Liaise with customers and internal departments to resolve invoice queries and deductions
Creation of invoices and credit notes and managing internal credit note complaints system
Managing customer relations and communication and escalating issues where necessary
Manage and make decisions on customer credit limits
Posting of customer bank receipts
Preparing weekly reports on aged debt and stock
Assisting in preparation of monthly management accounts, including:
Creation, checking and reconciliation of reports and spreadsheets such as stock and sales
Posting of journals
Assisting in closing processes
Assisting in document collection, submission and answering queries for financial audit(s)
Ad hoc tasks and processes to meet changing business needs
Gaining proficiency in other finance and accounting tasks and processes to be able to assist and cover for colleagues such as internal controls monitoring, payments, purchase ledger and customs processes
Required skills:
Experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
Proficiency with Excel and finance/accounting systems
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Confident decision maker
Ability to work well independently and within a team
