Role Overview



We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accounts Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our surfacing business based in West Sussex. This is a key role within the company, responsible for managing accounts, supporting senior management with financial reporting, and handling a range of HR and payroll-related duties.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, confident working independently, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities



Accounts & Finance



-Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and financial records

-Prepare and process sales invoices, purchase invoices, and credit control

-Manage supplier payments and subcontractor accounts

-Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards

-Prepare monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts

-Oversee payroll processing, including CIS where applicable

-Ensure VAT returns are prepared and submitted accurately and on time

-Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required

-Monitor job costing and profitability of contracts

-Maintain accurate financial records in line with company procedures

-HR & Payroll Responsibilities

-Maintain employee records, contracts, and personnel files

-Assist with recruitment administration, including onboarding new starters

-Manage payroll administration, including holiday pay, sick pay, and pensions

-Monitor staff attendance, holidays, and absences

-Support disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with company policy

-Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practices

-Assist with updating HR policies and procedures

-Skills & Experience Required

-Proven experience in an Accounts Manager or senior account's role

-Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls

-Experience working within construction or a similar trade-based industry (preferred)

-Knowledge of payroll processes and CIS (desirable)

-Experience handling HR administration and employee records

-Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

-Strong organisational and time-management skills

-High level of accuracy and attention to detail

-Confident communicator with a professional approach
