Accounts Manager




Purpose of the role:




This role is responsible for managing the accounts payable and receivable department and the accounts assistants within team. This role will manage two direct reports and will review the reconciliations of the accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers, manage the processing and payment of supplier invoices, payment reconciliations and review overdue client bookings. Responsible for the banking, accounting systems and for improving processes, as well as maintaining relationships with HR, IT and other departments.

: This role is based in our office in Market Harborough.


Working Hours:

Full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week 09:00 am-17:15 pm Monday to Friday with 45 minute lunch break.


In this role you will:




Manage direct reports effectively and efficiently, including performance management, regular one-to-ones, annual reviews, smart objective setting and recruitment. Manage the banking, including monthly reconciliations, as well as relationships with the bank and assist with set-up of new accounts. Work cross-functionally with other departments in the business, assisting the contact centre, trade, product and operations teams with their queries. Manage the supplier invoice process, ensuring invoices are processed and paid within contracted terms. Manage the tour accrual process to ensure tour costs are accurate. Work with accounts assistants to ensure daily reconciliation of customer receipts from both direct and agency customers, to process customer cancellations and refunds and to communicate with travel agents to issue self-billing agreements and raise VAT invoices. To also work with accounts assistants to process staff expenses, reconcile the credit cards on a monthly basis and review aged creditors regularly. Proactively identify process and system improvements to increase efficiency. Work with other teams on the transition of the accounting system.

To be successful in this role you will:




Have 5 years' experience in accounts payable/ receivables and experience leading a team. Have an ability to reconcile complex ledgers, identify and resolve any reconciling items/anomalies. Take ownership of your own performance to meet the required standards and expectations, and use learning and development opportunities to be the best you can be in an ever-evolving role. Have excellent planning & organisational skills and be able to prioritise, plan, and manage workloads to meet deadlines. Actively participate in company initiatives, training, and events.Be able to adapt to changes in situation and task while sensitively responding and supporting the wider team. Understand and consider the impact of your own actions on yourself and others (colleagues, customers, and business partners etc.). Raise and suggest ideas to improve business and customer process with the Management team, highlighting common trends. Educated to A level of equivalent, including Maths & English. Be proficient in written and verbal communication skills. Be Computer literate in Word and Outlook and especially Excel.
