Salary: 31,132 per annum



Grade: FRS B



Salary range: 31,132 - 36,723 per annum



Contract type: Permanent



Working pattern: Full-time

London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London's Fire and Rescue Service - one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city.



We employ over 5,500 people, across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer your 999 calls) and our non-operational team (our teams who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, including HR, IT, Finance, Procurement, Communications etc.).



This is an exciting time to join the LFB finance team. We have recently implemented SAP4HANA and SAP Ariba, the first public sector organisation to go live with this cloud-based system.



The post-holder will be an assistant in the Accounts Payable and Receivable (APAR) Team, which comprises Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Petty Disbursements and Credit Card reconciliations. The post-holder will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of a high quality and fully comprehensive Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable service to the Brigade and all other users, focusing on customer service.



The successful candidate will:


have current or recent experience of working in an accounts payable/receivable team in a large organisation;

be used to a wide range of IT applications and be expected to become proficient in SAP4HANA; and

be an excellent communicator with a passion for providing a good service to colleagues and other stakeholders.


This role does not require any finance qualifications; however, there are plenty of learning and development opportunities within in the finance team, including working towards professional qualifications.

Assessment Overview



Stage 1

1. Current or recent experience of working in an accounts payable/receivable team in a large organisation, either using SAP4HANA or similar systems.



2. Numerical skills in order to prepare reports, provide statistical data, check arithmetic and interpret data, with excellent attention to detail.



3. Well-developed interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain efficient working relationships with staff at all levels, ensuring high standards of customer care.



4. Good organisational skills in order to manage workloads, respond to priorities and to ensure deadlines are met.
