Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive

Accounts Payable Assistant

to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, expense claims, and payment runs, helping to maintain strong financial control and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities



Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and in line with company policies. Match, batch, and code invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes (GRNs). Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly. Prepare and process weekly and monthly supplier payment runs (BACS/CHAPS). Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the accounting system. Assist with month-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments. Handle supplier queries efficiently, maintaining positive relationships. Support internal departments with invoice or payment-related queries. Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and company financial controls. Assist the wider Finance team with ad hoc administrative or reporting tasks as required.

Requirements:



Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or Finance Assistant role. Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and invoice processing. Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, NetSuite, or SAP). Excellent communication and organisational skills. Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment. AAT qualification (or studying towards - Desirable)*
Experience working in a medium-to-large UK business (Desirable)*
Familiarity with purchase order systems (Desirable)*.
