Job Description

Delighted to be working for one of the most prestigious law firms in the UK in recruiting a Junior Accounts Payable Assistant working in an immediate team of 4, part of a finance function of approx 35 people.

Note - no prior finance experience is required, just a desire to build a career in finance and ideally someone who is keen to work in a law firm.

This firm has approx 1000 staff (including partners) and is based near Chancery Lane Station. The firm have an excellent benefits package and offer fantastic career development opportunities, with many of the senior management team having worked their way through the finance function from more junior roles.

Key responsibilities:

reviewing supplier invoices related to both office costs and client recharges reviewing expense requests preparing and coordinating weekly payment runs managing urgent daily payments as required addressing and resolving payment queries from both internal teams and external parties handling client disbursement transactions requesting and processing VAT receipts as necessary allocating funds received into the office account to settle the firm's invoices; and ensuring all queries are managed efficiently, escalated when appropriate, and clearly communicated to the Chief Cashier posting funds received into office account to pay the firm's invoices.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of A-Level qualifications or an equivalent standard, along with prior experience in an office environment or be a graduate who ideally has at least had some office experience via work experience or internships (Bright candidates with no office experience also considered).

Applicants should be proactive, enthusiastic about learning, and capable of effective communication with suppliers and colleagues across all levels. Given the high volume of work, the candidate must demonstrate diligence and the ability to prioritise tasks while upholding the highest quality standards and adhering to established SRA rules and departmental procedures. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue further finance qualifications, should they be interested.
