The role: The Accounts Payable Manager will manage the accounts payable team and is responsible for all day-to day accounts payable tasks and activities. Key areas of responsibility include ensuring timely payment to suppliers, agents (for commissions) and warranty providers, being a key contact for procurement team to investigate issues, leading and training the AP team to accurately process invoices with multi-national VAT. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee daily accounts payable operations
  • Evaluate, develop, and improve department controls, systems, and procedures in order to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationship
  • Manage accounts payable team to ensure that all invoices are paid efficiently, processed with the correct VAT code, have adequate supporting paperwork and are goods/service receipted or otherwise appropriately authorised
  • Manage supplier payment runs and payment of employee salaries
  • Monitor cash position and contribute to the identification of funding requirements
  • Provide input to systems development strategy and enhancement requirements, including providing appropriate resource to test new developments
What we are looking for:
  • Qualified Accountant or qualified by experience
  • Strong knowledge of controls and accounting principles regarding accounts payable
  • Good understanding of financial controls
  • Systems knowledge, specifically a good working knowledge of SAP is desirable
  • Logical thinking and meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and take on ownership of delivery to deadlines
  • Some Automotive industry and/or Manufacturing experience would be a positive but is not essential
