Job Summary



We are seeking a highly organised, detail-driven

Accounts & Payroll Accountant

to take ownership of the company's accounts payable, monthly payroll, and wider finance administration.

This role is suited to a structured and methodical individual who enjoys maintaining order across financial processes, supporting the business through strong administration, and ensuring all routine finance activities are completed accurately and on time. The position is operational rather than managerial and plays a key role in keeping the business running smoothly behind the scenes.

Working primarily in

Xero

, the successful candidate will be responsible not only for supplier payments and payroll, but also for the accurate administration of expenses, company cars, and other recurring financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

Full ownership of the accounts payable function using

Xero

Processing supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner Matching invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies Preparing and managing supplier payment runs Maintaining accurate creditor records and supplier statements Handling supplier queries and maintaining professional relationships Ensuring payments are made in line with agreed terms and internal controls
Payroll

Processing

monthly payroll

accurately and on schedule Maintaining payroll records and employee information Acting as the internal point of contact for payroll-related queries Ensuring payroll data is well organised, accurate, and compliant with deadlines
Expenses & Financial Administration

Administration and control of

sales representative expenses

Reviewing, processing, and reconciling expense claims in line with company policy Maintaining clear records and supporting documentation for audit and review Managing finance-related administration associated with

company cars

, including: Ongoing records and cost tracking Liaison with internal stakeholders regarding vehicle-related costs Supporting the wider business with structured financial administration as required
Controls, Organisation & Support

Maintaining well-organised, auditable financial records across all responsibilities Supporting month-end close activities related to payables, payroll, and expenses Ensuring finance processes are followed consistently and accurately Identifying opportunities to improve organisation, efficiency, and control Working closely with internal teams to support smooth day-to-day operations

Skills & Experience



Proven experience in an accounts-based or finance administration role Strong background in

accounts payable

Experience processing

monthly payroll

Confident user of

Xero

(essential) Highly organised with excellent attention to detail Comfortable managing multiple routine processes simultaneously Strong administrative skills and methodical approach to record keeping Practical, hands-on mindset suited to an SME environment Accounting or finance qualifications are advantageous but not essential
