We are acting on behalf of a well-established firm of chartered accountants in Devon who are seeking a
Senior Accountant
to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to take responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients, contribute to a supportive team, and progress their career within a reputable practice.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, providing accounting, tax, and advisory services.
Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and statutory accounts in compliance with UK accounting standards.
Handle complex accounting and tax matters, including corporate and personal tax, VAT, and payroll.
Provide proactive advice to clients on financial performance, cash flow, and business strategy.
Lead and mentor junior members of the team, providing guidance, support, and training.
Assist in audits, ensuring thorough preparation, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting, tax legislation, and best practice.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and client service within the firm.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
Skills & Experience Required
ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with proven experience in a senior accounting role.
Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits.
Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to clients.
Experience supervising, mentoring, and managing junior team members.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office applications.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively.
