We are now looking for a motivated Trainee Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent entry-level role for someone looking to build a long-term career in accountancy, with full training provided and funded study support towards the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.
Role Responsibilities
As a Trainee Accounts Assistant, you will support the accounts team with a wide range of tasks, including:
Assisting with data entry and maintaining accurate financial records using software such as Sage or Xero
Supporting accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and reconciling supplier statements
Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and client accounts under supervision
Maintaining organised filing systems for financial documents and correspondence
Supporting bank reconciliations, petty cash management and simple bookkeeping tasks
Helping to ensure compliance with internal policies and financial procedures
Providing general administrative support across the accounts department
Undertaking ad hoc tasks to support the wider team as required
Candidate Requirements
You don't need prior experience in accounting, the right attitude and willingness to learn are more important. We're looking for someone who is:
Interested in building a career in accountancy
Reliable, organised and has strong attention to detail
Comfortable working with numbers and learning new software
A good communicator and team player
Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Able to travel to our rural office (own car or reliable transport required)
Desirable (but not essential):
Basic understanding of accounting principles
Experience using software such as Sage, Xero or QuickBooks
Previous admin or data-entry experience
Exposure to bookkeeping or accounts payable tasks
