Overseeing a small team of Dispensing Assistants within a busy Distance Selling Pharmacy, and taking personal accountability for
Undertaking accuracy checking duties for a range of prescription types, in order to meet the highest quality standards and patient care within the Ashtons named patient Dispensary Services team.
Principal Accountabilities:
Accurately check prescriptions and orders that have been clinically screened by a pharmacist, in line with company Standard Operating Procedures and meeting regulatory standards
Coaching the Dispensing Assistants to enable them to deliver the highest standard of care to patients, across a range of order types including regular NHS cycle prescriptions, named patient orders, TTOs, controlled drugs and Clozapine programmes
To ensure that adequate levels of consumable items used in the course of dispensing are available and to top-up these items as necessary, working within a clutter free environment
To participate in other day to day duties which make up the role of the technician, for example, advice to nursing staff, stock returns and fulfilling medicine orders
To dispense medicines, sundries and devices on a variety of legal requisitions and prescriptions in accordance with departmental guidelines as required
Support Team Leaders with the monitoring of Dispensing Assistants as required
Support the Dispensary Services Manager in ensuring the Pharmacy operates ethically and in line with company Standard Operating Procedures and meeting regulatory standards
Collaborate with Dispensary Services Manager to maintain accurate Standard Operating Procedures as required
Follow our company Standard Operating Procedures and observing the GPhC principals and standards, and ensuring effective use of systems and technology
Adhere to our company and external Health & Safety Standards; including taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of colleagues, cooperating with management and following instructions, completing the provided training, and prompt reporting of any hazards, illnesses or injuries.
Adhere to our company Data Protection procedures; including the completion of annual training, using the provided secure ways to handle and dispose of data, and prompt reporting of any suspected data breaches
Help keep the business environment clean and tidy, be responsible for keeping own and surrounding areas clutter free, working within cleaning schedules as required

Essential Education, Experience and Skills:
Education
NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) and be registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician.
Experience
Minimum one year of experience within a pharmacy accuracy checking role.
Skills
Fluent in the English language
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy checking capabilities
An ability to learn and adapt quickly
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Calm under pressure
Excellent time management and organisation, with an independent work ethic.
