We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Systems Development Advisor, within a national policing unit.

An ACRO Systems Development Advisor plays a crucial role in enhancing the international exchange of criminal convictions and improving database services within ACRO Criminal Records Office. Responsibilities include:

• Developing and refining database requirements to support criminal records processing.
• Liaising with database suppliers for development, testing, and implementation.
• Providing professional guidance and training to staff using new databases.
• Participating in business improvement projects to enhance efficiency.
• Generating statistical and information reports for stakeholders.
• Representing ACRO at meetings and conferences to promote criminal records exchange

An ACRO Systems Development Advisor needs a mix of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and communication skills to excel in the role. Some key skills include:

• Database and IT proficiency - Understanding database structures, testing, and implementation.
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking - Identifying system improvements and troubleshooting issues.
• Project management - Coordinating development projects and ensuring timely delivery.
• Communication and stakeholder engagement - Liaising with law enforcement agencies and database suppliers.
• Training and mentoring - Supporting staff in using new systems effectively.
• Attention to detail - Ensuring accuracy in criminal records exchange and reporting.

International Services require a Systems Development Adviser to support the business area in the on-going management and development of existing and new databases and other relevant software.

• Educated to

(A Levels) or the relevant work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience

• Proven experience producing written reports, giving presentations and in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, process mapping / modelling and graphics packages.
• Proven experience of managing a work load to include the setting of priorities, allocation of work and monitoring of progress.
• Proven experience of presenting at meetings/conferences and communicating with external stakeholders.
• Practical knowledge and expertise in the development, introduction and enhancement of databases
