Key Responsibilities - Graduate Automation Engineering

Support the design, development, and implementation of automation systems, including PLC, SCADA, and HMI solutions. Assist with configuration, programming, and testing of control solutions in line with client specifications and project requirements. Work alongside senior engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality automation projects from initial concept through to commissioning and handover. Participate in the preparation of technical documentation, including functional design specifications, test documents, and operation manuals. Contribute to site surveys and site-based commissioning activities, ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for clients' automation systems as required. Promote and comply with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements in line with company and client procedures.

Essential Skills & Qualifications for Graduate Automation Engineering Careers

Degree (or about to graduate) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. Keen interest in automation, control systems, and digital technologies. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and fault-finding skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with teams and clients. Competence with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn specialist automation software and tools. Collaborative approach and readiness to work within project teams on client sites as required. Full, valid UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one (desirable). Eligibility to work in the UK; please note we are unable to sponsor visas for this role.

Desirable Knowledge and Additional Attributes

Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider or similar) through academic projects, placements, or internships. Familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms and industrial networking. Understanding of electrical drawings and engineering documentation. Proactive, adaptable, and committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
