Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home specialising in assisted living and senior care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, many of whom may require specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact within a supportive environment, fostering social interaction and mental stimulation among our residents.

Duties

Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings. Support residents during activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment at all times. Assist with the development of personalised activity programmes for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Encourage socialisation among residents to promote emotional well-being and community engagement. Maintain accurate records of participation and residents' responses to activities. Collaborate with care staff to identify individual preferences and special requirements related to senior care and dementia care. Ensure the activity areas are safe, clean, and welcoming at all times.

Requirements

Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or care homes is highly desirable. Prior experience with senior care, dementia care, or Alzheimer's care is advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members. Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of elderly residents. Ability to organise engaging activities that cater to diverse needs and abilities. Knowledge of caregiving principles related to senior citizens and those with cognitive impairments is preferred. Flexibility to work as part of a team within a caring environment dedicated to providing exceptional senior care services.
