Job Summary:

To provide a range of activities, to interest and stimulate the physical and emotional well-being of our residents. Motivate and guide the care staff in the home activity programme, under the direction of the Manager.

Key skills:

Excellent communication skills are essential as is some experience of delivering activities and care in some form, ideally to the elderly.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word is desirable.

Appointment of successful applicants is subject to satisfactory references and clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Hours of work:

Approximately 8-16 hours per week, negotiable. Flexibility is important as timings and hours will depend on the needs and wishes of our residents. As a guide 2pm-5pm and occasional 5pm-730pm are likely. Applicants must be available to work alternate weekends.

Tasks:

To provide a range of entertainment both in groups and on a one to one basis. Examples of activities include quizzes, crafts, musical activities, reminiscing, word games and outings. Contribute to the emotional well being of residents by allowing them to pursue existing interests and helping them to develop new ones. Encourage involvement of other staff members, relatives and friends in the home's activities Contribute towards planning an ongoing weekly activity rotas in accordance with the residents' wishes Maintain full and accurate records of activities in order to monitor, record and evaluate participation. To assist the Home Manager in planning the home's special events such as summer fetes, coffee mornings, etc. To help organise and attend special events, such as garden parties, theatre trips and outings to local garden centres and pubic houses. To assist the Home Manager in actively marketing the home and promoting a positive profile within the community. Any other tasks as may be delegated by the Manager.

Tudor Lodge has been a family run residential home for the elderly for the last 30 years. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 28 people.
