Job Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join our dedicated team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with seniors, particularly those in care home environments, including individuals with dementia care needs. This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through creative and interactive programmes.

Duties



Plan, organise, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and physical exercises to promote social interaction and mental stimulation. Assist residents in participating in activities by providing support and encouragement while ensuring their safety and comfort. Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and adapt activities accordingly. Collaborate with care staff to monitor residents' health and well-being during activities, ensuring appropriate care is provided. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities to help improve future programmes. Engage with family members to encourage their involvement in activities and keep them informed about upcoming events.

Requirements



Previous experience working in a care home, nursing home, or assisted living environment is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with seniors, particularly those living with dementia or other cognitive impairments. A genuine interest in senior care and a commitment to enhancing the lives of residents through engaging activities. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various situations. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude are essential traits for success in this role. Relevant qualifications or training in health care or recreational therapy would be advantageous but not mandatory.

Pay: From 12.21 per hour
