The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care, particularly in assisted living or nursing home settings, and will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being for our residents, including those with dementia care needs.
Duties
Design and organise a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to assess individual preferences and needs regarding activities.
Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outings to enhance socialisation among residents.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that activities align with the physical and mental health requirements of residents.
Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and gather feedback to continually improve programming.
Train and supervise volunteers or staff involved in activity planning and execution.
Ensure a safe environment during all activities, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Requirements
Previous experience in senior care or a related field is essential; experience specifically within assisted living or nursing homes is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with seniors.
A genuine passion for working with older adults and understanding their unique needs, particularly those related to dementia care.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and execute multiple activities simultaneously.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
A relevant qualification in recreational therapy or a related field would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
