Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive activities schedule that caters to diverse interests and abilities.
Individualised Care:
Conduct social activity preference assessments and review them regularly to personalize activities for each resident.
Group Activities:
Organize and facilitate group activities like games, music, and social events to foster social interaction and engagement.
One-on-One Interaction:
Provide individual attention and support, engaging in conversation, reading, or assisting with hobbies.
Health and Safety:
Ensure a safe environment and promote safe working practices.
Communication:
Communicate with residents, families, and staff to gather feedback and ensure activities are relevant.
Resource Management:
Manage resources, including materials and budget, for activities.
Record Keeping:
Maintain records of activities, participant attendance, and any relevant notes.
External Engagement:
Liaise with external agencies to provide support and advice on social activities.
Professionalism:
Act in a professional manner, representing the care home and promoting a positive environment.
General:
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
Attend and actively participate in Care Home staff meetings, Activity Coordinator team meetings, and resident meetings, as and when required.
Report any changes in resident's physical or emotional condition to the Care Home Manager
Liaise directly with residents, families and carers on a daily basis
Stimulate interact in activities and outings and with social contacts
Activities:
Help residents to socialise and remain as active as possible within the Care Home, providing a variety of activities that cater for all needs, interests and hobbies.
Plan and implement general and individual activity programmes, and identify and encourage residents pre-existing hobbies.
Encourage all Care Home staff, relatives and friends to participate in the Care Home's activities.
Assist with fund raising for entertainments, materials and outings
Accompany residents, where possible, to off-site activities and excursions, which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours.
Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities using agreed documentation, and assist carers and nurses to review and update resident's care plans.
Provide comfort and company, on a one to one basis, for resident's who are unable to undertake any form of activity
Discuss and promote the aims and objectives of recreational therapy with the Care Home staff and relatives
Marketing:
Actively market the Care Home and promote a positive personal and professional profile within the local community and ensure the good reputation of the Care Home at all times
Liaise with the local press when required, including drafting news content for internal newsletters and press releases
Carry out any other reasonable management instruction.
