Duties

Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging activities that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programs Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being Organize special events, outings, recreational therapies, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents' preferences and health conditions Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as mobility exercises or social interactions to promote independence and engagement Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while accommodating individual care routines Maintain accurate records of participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes for each resident Foster a positive community environment by encouraging participation and building meaningful relationships among residents

Skills

Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy or senior activity coordination within assisted living or nursing home settings Strong understanding of aging issues, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and long-term care practices Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents with diverse needs including those with disabilities or cognitive impairments Ability to assist residents with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving support when needed Skilled in schedule management to balance multiple activities while maintaining flexibility for individual resident needs Knowledge of aging-related counseling techniques and social work principles to promote emotional well-being Creative problem-solving skills combined with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through engaging activities
