Stapleton House Care Home are looking to recruit an Activities coordinator. Located in Jarrow, Stapleton House is a 45 bedded Residential & Nursing care home supporting adults requiring residential & nursing care. The home prides itself on person centred care in a warm and family feel environment.
We are looking for someone who is dynamic, possesses leadership qualities, will stimulate residents, has initiative when planning appropriate activities and will make a difference to the daily wellbeing of our residents.

Job Summary
The Activities coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a care home or nursing home setting. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the interests and abilities of seniors, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments. The Activities person will work closely with residents, staff, and families to create a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being.
Duties
Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities tailored to the needs and preferences of residents.
Coordinate events and outings that encourage participation and foster community spirit.
Assess individual resident needs to create personalised activity plans.
Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of care requirements.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and resident engagement in activities.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and individual participation.
Train and supervise volunteers or activity aides to assist in delivering programmes.
Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make adjustments as necessary to improve resident satisfaction.
Arrange events within the care home, arranging fund raising events.
Skills
Strong communication skills to engage effectively with seniors, families, and team members.
Experience or knowledge in senior care settings, particularly in assisted living or nursing home environments.
Understanding of dementia care principles and how they influence activity planning.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and patience when working with residents who may have varying physical or cognitive abilities.
Creative thinking to develop innovative activities that stimulate interest among residents.
Organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring all details are attended to.
