We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activities Co-Ordinator to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering enriching activities, particularly within residential care homes. This role is essential in promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents through engaging activities tailored to their needs, including those with dementia care requirements.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents.
Coordinate and oversee daily activity schedules, ensuring all events are well-organised and accessible.
Foster a positive environment by encouraging resident participation and engagement in activities.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to understand individual preferences and needs.
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with the overall care plans for each resident.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments based on feedback from residents and staff.
Maintain accurate records of participation and outcomes related to activities.
Ensure that all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Skills
Proven experience in a care home or senior care setting, preferably within residential care homes.
Strong understanding of dementia care principles and practices.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with residents on a personal level.
Ability to organise events effectively while managing time efficiently.
Compassionate approach to care, demonstrating empathy towards residents' needs and preferences.
Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging programmes that stimulate cognitive function and social interaction.
Team player who can work collaboratively with staff across various departments.
