Job Title: Care Home Activities and Wellbeing Co-ordinator

Full-Time/Part-Time/Permanent

Job Summary:

The Activities Co-ordinator is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing a range of activities and events designed to enhance the quality of life and well-being of residents in the care home. This role involves working closely with residents, their families, and care staff to ensure that activities are engaging, varied, and tailored to the needs and preferences of each individual.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Activity Planning and Implementation:

- Develop a comprehensive activities program that includes a mix of recreational, social, therapeutic, and educational activities.

- Organise daily, weekly, and monthly activities that cater to the interests and abilities of all residents.

- Ensure activities are inclusive and accessible for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability.

- Coordinate special events, such as holiday celebrations, birthday parties, and outings.

2. Resident Engagement:

- Engage with residents to understand their interests, hobbies, and preferences.

- Encourage participation in activities and provide personalised support to residents to enhance their experience.

- Foster a positive and stimulating environment that promotes social interaction and community within the care home.

3. Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with care staff, volunteers, and external entertainers or therapists to deliver the activities program.

- Communicate effectively with residents' families to keep them informed about upcoming events and involve them in the activities when appropriate.

- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, providing updates on activities and resident engagement.

4. Administrative Duties:

- Maintain accurate records of residents' participation and feedback on activities.

- Prepare activity schedules and ensure they are displayed prominently within the care home.

- Manage the budget allocated for activities, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

- Handle the booking and coordination of external vendors and transportation for off-site activities.

5. Health and Safety:

- Ensure that all activities comply with health and safety regulations and the care home's policies.

- Conduct risk assessments for activities, particularly those involving physical activity or off-site outings.

- Monitor and respond to any changes in residents' health or behavior during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

6. Health and Wellbeing:

Collect and collate wellbeing data using internal systems to assess the quality of life of residents with dementia. Analyse wellbeing data to identify trends and areas for improvement in activity programming. Work with care staff to integrate wellbeing data into individualised care plans. Use wellbeing data to tailor activities that specifically address the emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of residents.
Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

- Previous experience in a similar role within a care home or community setting.

- Strong organisational and planning skills.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Creative and resourceful, with a passion for improving the quality of life for elderly residents.

Desirable:

- Qualifications in health and social care, occupational therapy, or a related field.

- Experience working with individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

- First aid certification.

- Training in activity provision, such as arts and crafts, music therapy, or physical fitness.
