Job Description

Aspen Hill Village is a 180 bed Nursing Home situated in Hunslet, Leeds providing quality residential and Nursing home care to the elderly and those living with dementia.

We are looking for a number of energetic Activities Co-ordinators who can support Aspen Hill Village to create and develop a welcoming and inviting environment encouraging all service users to participate in the activities offered within and outside the home.

The objective of the job will be to design and deliver a wide ranging variety of activities to ensure all interests and levels of physical and mental agility of the service users are met. Aspen Hill Village has 180 beds and each Activities Co-ordinator will be responsible for supporting 30 residents and thus will need experience within homes with a similar number of residents.

The role will be required to undertake activities each day between 9am to 4pm Mon-Fri and alternative weekends from 10 am to 4pm. Only those candidates who meet this criteria need apply.



Responsibilities and Duties



Design and organise a variety of engaging and stimulating activities within the Home to cater for all interests, including games, parties, day trips and external entertainment, encouraging relatives and visitors to become involved; Arrange trips and excursions with varied destinations and purposes to involve as many residents in activity outside the Home; Agree and undertake fundraising activities to be included into the Residents Funds; Participate and encourage others to be active members of the Resident's Committee. Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks in particular moving and handling of loads. Ensuring the policies and procedures are adhered to at all times; Understand personal responsibilities with regard to Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling or residents and fire safety and evacuation procedures; Take responsibility to read, understand and adhere to the company policies and procedures. Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident; Encourage and contribute to working as a team, responding positively to colleagues and acting on all reasonable work instructions promptly; Advise and liaise with the management team on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods; Take care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on any faults and the need for maintenance or replacement; Responsible for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment in line with your area of work; Manage Activities budget in conjunction with the Business Support Manager, Finance Manager, House Managers, Quality Manager and the Home Manager.

Qualifications and Skills



Hold or work towards achieving NVQ Level 2 in Support Services in Healthcare Demonstrate understanding of the role of social interaction plays in the general well being of people. Previous involvement in voluntary or community activity and roles. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work under own initiative and demonstrate imagination in a fast paced environment Ability to work as part of a team and carry out tasks as directed by other team members Willingness to positively contribute towards enhancing the recreational activities available for all service users. Able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
