We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, many of whom may be living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Responsibilities
Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings.
Support residents during activities, encouraging participation while respecting individual preferences and needs.
Assist with the development of activity programmes that promote socialisation, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to inform ongoing activity planning.
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans, including those requiring specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care.
Foster a warm, welcoming environment that promotes social interaction and emotional wellbeing among residents.
Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times.
Take residents to appointments using company vehicle
Take residents on personal outings using company vehicle
Qualifications
Experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or care homes is highly desirable.
Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer's care principles is advantageous.
Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with elderly residents.
Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through engaging activities.
Ability to organise and lead group activities while providing individualised support as needed.
Previous caregiving or activity assistant experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates committed to learning.
