We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Actuarial Public team as an Actuarial Analyst on a full time basis in our Glasgow office.

What will your role look like?

As an Actuarial Analyst you will provide efficient, high-quality service and support to clients in the public sector, in particular, Administering Authorities to Local Government Pension Funds who are part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) as well as employers who participate in these funds.


Core responsibilities include: data manipulation, calculation of pension liabilities and production of reports including sense checking own work and the work of others.


You'll be based in our Glasgow Office and benefit from our hybrid working model, which supports both remote work and in-person collaboration in our modern, sociable office spaces.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:

Preparing actuarial calculations, for example (but not limited to) in respect of LGPS funding valuations & accounting using specialist software and following robust processes. Developing, running and checking actuarial models, and analysing output Supporting the development of less experienced members of the team and self checking own work and the work of others Being aware of deadlines and planning work in order to meet these. Ensuring all work is undertaken in a rigorous, accurate and methodical manner to a high professional standard Ensuring comprehensive audit trails are maintained. Contribute to continuous improvement by helping embed best practice processes and suggesting areas for development within systems and processes. Present your findings in a clear and accessible manner to colleagues and clients, some of whom may not have an actuarial background. Adhering to the firm's Information Security standards, policies and procedures.

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:

Experience with actuarial calculations, preferably in Defined Benefit pension schemes (desirable but not essential). Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the capacity to manage multiple and sometimes competing client demands. A proactive, self-motivating approach and the ability to use your own initiative to manage your workload and support colleagues. A drive to learn and share knowledge with a focus on continuous learning and improvement. Proven ability to forge strong and professional relationships at all levels. Strong analytical skills. Proven ability to effectively articulate actuarial concepts with team members/stakeholders from a non-actuarial background. Strong IT skills, in particular an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (complex formulas & pivot tables). VBA and R skills are advantageous. The ability to work independently and collaboratively. A commitment to building relationships and working inclusively.
