Actuarial Consulting & Analytics: Graduate Programme

United Kingdom, United Kingdom

Job Description

The Vacancy
At Hymans Robertson, actuarial consulting is at the heart of what we do - combining our analytical expertise with a deep understanding of pensions, insurance and financial risk to deliver tailored solutions for our clients. Whether advising on Defined Benefit schemes, supporting Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS), or shaping insurance strategies through asset liability modelling, our actuaries play a pivotal role in helping people to make informed decisions.
We are excited to welcome applications for our Actuarial Consulting & Analytics graduate programme, which is a perfect next step for those looking to launch their careers within this field!
What will your role look like?
Depending on your skills and interests, you will be aligned to either one of our Consulting Business Units (Actuarial Private, Actuarial Public or Insurance & Financial Services) as a trainee consultant or to our Technical (Insights & Analytics) team as an analyst. Though these career pathways are complimentary, they offer distinct opportunities to specialise and build your knowledge in your aligned field.
As a trainee actuarial consultant in one of the above teams, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects from day one. You will learn from experienced actuaries and develop your technical and stakeholder management skills through structured training and mentoring.
For those who align to our Analyst pathway within our Insights and Analytics team, your role will look slightly different to a traditional trainee consultant's. You will become a specialist in the technology that powers our consulting teams, as you build in-depth expertise of our programming languages (such as R) and collaborate with these teams to unlock the benefits of our cutting-edge technology for our clients.
In all cases you'll work with with experienced consultants and analysts to contribute to meaningful client and internal projects, as you learn the core principles that drive our industry forward.
Whichever pathway you choose, we'll also fully support your journey to qualification with the IFoA, giving you the tools and encouragement to thrive both professionally and personally.
If you enjoy the following, we think you'll love this opportunity:

  • Building relationships and communicating with people
  • Working with large sets of detailed data and other forms of information
  • Solving complex problems
  • A fun and fast-paced working environment, where you are encouraged to collaborate with your colleagues
  • Being adaptable and flexible in your approach to tasks
You don't need to be joining us from a purely maths, economics or actuarial science based degree programme to excel in this role, as we recognise that any University degree will give you an amazing set of transferable skills that are valuable in any workplace. However, we do require you to have the ability to work well with numbers.
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer:
  • A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged
  • On site mental health and wellbeing support
  • A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire
  • Regular social activities
