Job Description

ADAPT is a charity that was founded in 2019 by Edwina Cobb. ADAPT provides unique care for those seeking recovery from substance use disorders. Unlike standard secondary phase treatment and accommodation, ADAPT provides six months treatment to our service users, providing them with a full therapeutic treatment programme alongside supported housing. Our programme is five days a week, and consists of Interpersonal Group Therapy, Psychoeducational workshops, 1:1 therapy and a plethora of holistic therapies. ADAPT has grown exponentially in the past three years and we have recently begun offering support via move on housing to those who complete our six-month programme, with weekly aftercare groups, facilitated by a qualified therapist.

Essential:

Fully qualified and experienced addiction counsellor andmember of an Ethical Body such as the BACP, UKCP or equivalent.

Job Role



We are seeking an experienced Addiction Therapist to join our clinical team within a quasi-residential treatment setting. Adopting an abstinence based philosophy within a biopsychosocial holistic model and 12-Step ethos, you will facilitate group therapy and one-to-one counselling sessions as part of a programme aimed at long-term recovery. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for inspiring clients through group therapy and psycho-educational workshops within a challenging and trauma-informed environment. The ideal candidate will be a team player, compassionate, ethically minded and resilient to aspects of working with a vulnerable population with often co-occurring disorders and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities



Facilitate group therapy and psycho-educational workshops

Deliver one-to-one counselling in line with individual treatment plans

Contribute to care planning and progress reviews

Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical notes

Work closely with therapists, and recovery staff

Support clients through challenging emotional processes using a trauma-informed approach

Participate in team meetings, supervision, and reflective practice

About You



A member of a professional body such as the BACP, NCPS, or UKCP

Minimum 3 years' experience in an addiction setting

Skilled in group facilitation and managing interpersonal dynamics

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compassionate, self-aware, and professional approach

Desirable



An integrative approach including Motivational Enhancement Therapy, CBT or DBT

Experience and familiarity with 12-Step Facilitation and Relapse Prevention

Previous experience in residential treatment environments

Transferable DBS
