The purpose of this role is to support Solihull Integrated Addictions Services (SIAS) in reaching its targets for numbers in treatment through a robust communications, networking and engagement programme.
The Practitioner - Awareness & Engagement plays a vital role in promoting awareness and understanding of the nature of addiction within the community and among professionals, helping individuals to recognise when there is a problem and seek support from, or make a referral to, SIAS.
The role involves raising awareness of the services SIAS offers, breaking down any barriers to engagement with its services and ensuring all professionals and individuals who may need to access or refer into SIAS services know how to do so. The role also involves identifying and opening up new pathways and opportunities and feeding those back to the Service Manager - Engagement, who will ensure SIAS takes advantage of them and embeds them into future delivery.
This position sits with Welcome charity, one of the SIAS Partner organisations.
Please note: a clean current driving license and access to your own vehicle is needed as this role involves regular travel in a timely manner around the Borough of Solihull.
Main Responsibilities
Generate and deliver engaging presentations.
Create engaging literature, website and social media content, resources and other promotional materials.
Network widely, attend and organise events.
Seek out and work to break down any barriers to engagement with SIAS that potential service users, or referrers, may have.
Target hard to reach groups with tailored activities.
Evaluate activities and produce reports and recommendations.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of addiction, alcohol & substance use and an awareness of local community needs.
Qualifications/Experience
Professional qualification in health & social care OR Demonstrable experience of working in the substance misuse field or of personal experience of addiction and recovery with a commitment to complete NVQ3 Health and Social Care or equivalent.
Professional qualification in marketing OR Demonstrable experience of marketing in action and an understanding of how to design, deliver and evaluate effective awareness & engagement campaigns, with a willingness to complete further training required to support performance in the role.
Skills and Abilities
Confidence and clarity in communicating with people at all levels and from differing backgrounds, tailoring messages appropriately.
Proficiency in writing and graphic design.
Skill in creating content and posting to websites and social media platforms.
Planning and organisational skills.

Flexibility in approach.
