Additional Needs Tutor / Assistant Curriculum Lead

Curriculum Manager / Senior Leadership Team
Job Purpose:
This hybrid role combines direct delivery of high-quality tuition for pupils with additional
needs with leadership responsibilities in curriculum implementation and quality assurance.
The post-holder will support the development of Swindon Tuition Centre's academic
curriculum by working closely with the Curriculum Manager while also delivering 1:1 and
small group tuition to students, primarily those with SEND and SEMH needs.
They will play a key role in supporting tutors to implement individualised, inclusive, and
measurable learning plans while ensuring standards of teaching, assessment and
engagement remain consistently high.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Support & Leadership
? Assist the Curriculum Manager in developing, monitoring and improving curriculum
content, resources and delivery across the STC curriculum.
? Support the implementation of the Quality and Accuracy Framework by reviewing
planning, assessment records, and tutor documentation.
? Lead by example through outstanding lesson delivery and planning.
? Conduct lesson observations and provide feedback to tutors, identifying training
needs and supporting their development.
? Support the tracking of student progress using BKSB, AQA Unit Award, internal
systems and data tools for all curriculum areas.
? Contribute to the organisation and checking of End of Term reports, working
alongside the Admin and Senior teams.
? Help maintain and manage shared resources across centres in alignment with the
curriculum budget and goals.
? Deputise for the Curriculum Manager when required.
Tuition Delivery
? Plan and deliver 1:1 or small group tuition in English and Maths up to
GCSE/Functional Skills Level 2.
? Support learners with a range of additional needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and
others.
? Build strong, trusting relationships with students, promoting positive behaviour and
emotional wellbeing.
? Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
? Work collaboratively with the Wellbeing Team, Seniors and Managers to ensure
student needs are met.
? Keep accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, learning objectives, progress,
safeguarding, and risk.
Behaviour & Safeguarding
? Act as a positive role model in behaviour and professionalism.
? Implement the Behaviour Management Policy and promote restorative practice.
? Report and document all safeguarding concerns on CPOMS and directly to the DSL.
? Contribute to the planning and delivery of behaviour support interventions, including
restorative Meetings.
Team Collaboration & Project Work
? Support the development of post-16 curriculum opportunities in partnership with SLT,
including research into course pathways, funding, and partnerships.
? Participate in extracurricular activities, enrichment sessions and national awareness
events.
? Engage with staff team building, training and CPD events.
General Responsibilities:
? Be available and willing to work flexibly across the four Swindon Tuition Centres and
off-site locations.
? Attend staff meetings, monthly supervisions, training sessions and appraisals.
? Take part in centre development planning and reviews.
? Promote and uphold the ethos and values of Swindon Tuition Centre.

Person Specification:
Commitment to raising educational outcomes for all pupils ?
Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour
or SEND ?
Ability to teach English & Maths up to Functional Skills Level 2 /
GCSE ?
Experience supporting other educators or mentoring staff ?
Effective behaviour management and de-escalation skills ?
Working knowledge of safeguarding practices ?
Experience of curriculum planning, progress monitoring and
assessment ?
Ability to analyse data and implement improvements ?
Excellent verbal and written communication ?
Confident in using ICT, Google Workspace, and educational
platforms ?
Ability to travel between centres and off-site locations ?
A full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle ?
