Sussex CAMHS has been undergoing a crucial and innovative expansion, which is seeing a substantial amount of growth in a variety of teams.



We are looking for a nurse within our Brighton and Hove NDP service, providing ADHD community CAMHS clinics for young people and their families/ carers.



If you are a Registered Nurse, with a drive and motivation to support young people living with ADHD and ASC, then this position will provide an exciting experience of what it is like to work in this area and open up new opportunities.



We are willing to consider the job as a Band 5 Developmental post with a view to developing into a Band 6 dependent on performance. We also would encourage those with Band 6 or significant Post-Qualification experience to apply.



We are looking for those with a professional qualification and registration in Nursing(Band 5 and above). However, our essential criteria asks candidates have significant experience in working with children and young people and/or significant experience in working with people presenting with mental health difficulties.



This is a permanent full time post, part of a wider, well established Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). The role includes both lone and team working, meaning you will need to be adaptable, organised, forward thinking and a good team player.

Your clinical work will involve:



Completing ADHD assessments and contributing to diagnostic decision



Leading treatment reviews including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating intervention (including carrying out physical observations)



Holding your own caseload, including more complex cases



Liaison with other agencies (school; social care)



Supervision of junior staff/ students



covering the duty inbox and responding to queries from families and other agencies



completing risk assessments and care plans for young people in our care



You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high-quality ADHD and ASC service that complements the work of our wider CAMHS colleagues and in liaison/partnership with other young people's services.



You will work on all aspects of the NDP pathway including screening, assessment, group work and for ADHD including medication reviews, lifestyle reviews (school & home), care planning and risk assessment and management. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to service development of the new NDP clinical model.



We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.

In order to be a successful Band 6 Nurse in our team you will be:



A Registered Mental Health Nurse (with the NMC)



Experienced working with neurodevelopmental conditions - assessment, diagnosis, treatment



Experienced in risk management



Comfortable working in a fast-paced and independent role



It would also be advantageous if you are:



Experienced working in CAMHS (Children and Young People's mental health services)



Experienced in working within a mental health setting



A Development Post Band 5 - 6 would also be considered for this role



MAIN DUTIES



The post holder will provide specialist assessments and nursing interventions to patients with ADHD symptoms or diagnosis; liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; Understand psychosocial interventions to include psycho-education, wellness recovery action plans, and discharge planning.



To undertake assessments of individuals and their families in the designated care group. To develop alongside the service user and family their care plan.



To offer specialist nursing assessment and advice



To conduct ADHD progress reviews to assess a young person's response to treatment and adapt accordingly.



To assess and manage on going risks as identified during the assessment. To regularly review risk factors and make changes to the management of them as necessary.



To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust nursing strategy.



To ensure that clinical practice is evidence based and consistent with relevant NICE guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.



To provide supervision of junior staff and trainees where appropriate.



To contribute to robust NDP MDT diagnostic decision making

Flexibility with working patterns is desirable as we may extend the hours of our service to include some weekend and evening work



SPFT staff have the capacity to work from home remotely where applicable and in agreement with your line manager.
