You will be expected to work as part of a team to provide a first-class service to your colleagues and service users such as, victims & witnesses and defence agents.

Job description

You may be starting out in your career or already have an

administrative background and looking for a change, but you

should have an interest in the Criminal Justice Sector.



You will be expected to work as part of a team to provide a

first-class service to your colleagues and service users such

as, victims & witnesses and defence agents.



The main duties of this role will cover a range of

administrative support and will generally include the

administration of cases including:



o Dealing with general enquiries relating to cases

o Uploading and maintaining case information on internal

IT systems

o Assisting Legal staff in the administration and

preparation of cases for court

o Ensuring all witnesses are notified of their requirement

to attend court

o Ensuring the courts and defence agents have all

relevant material prior to court hearings



Please note this is not an exhaustive list and other duties

will be required of the post holder.

DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES





There will be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and

career within COPFS. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of

the court system and how we deliver justice across Scotland.



You will experience different areas of the organisation,

learning how different crimes are prosecuted from minor

infractions and traffic offences to more specialist areas that

deal with death investigations and major crimes.



You will be able to undertake training programmes available

through the Civil Service-Learning platform, expanding your

skill set and customer service abilities. In some roles you will

shadow experienced members of staff to support your

learning and development as well as learning from peer to

peer.

Person specification



ESSENTIAL CRITERIA





Please note the competencies referred to in this pack form part of the key essential criteria for the role. You will also be required to

demonstrate:



o The minimum entry qualifications are 5 National 5's at grades A-C (including English) or equivalent; or demonstrable

experience of general office work.

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Strong word processing skills

o Strong organisational skills
