Administrative Officer, Community Midwifery Service
Band 3
We have an exciting opportunity for Administrative Officer(s) within our community midwifery service. You will become an essential member of our busy maternity unit working over a 7 day service, hours between 8am and 4pm Mon- Fri, with a one in 3 rota on Sat/Sun, 8 12 pm. Various part time positions are available. You will be based between St Jamess University Hospital and our community base at Woodhouse Health Centre.
Please note that this role does not meet the eligibility requirements for NHS sponsorship and interview will take place face to face.
Main duties of the job
Duties include dealing with patient enquiries and ensure they are dealt with in a friendly and professional manner, inputting data onto internal and external databases, plus a wide range of relating tasks as detailed in the job description attached.
As well as being able to communicate effectively on all levels with a wide range of people including hospital staff and the general public, the post holder should be able to work to deadlines, have excellent organisational skills, be able to work as part of a team and use their own initiative as these are essential skills for the role.

  • Knowledge of a wide range of administrative procedures including finance
  • A good awareness of and understanding of issues surrounding diversity and patient involvement
  • Previous administrative/ clerical experience.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the NHS.
  • Work experience in a health or social care setting
  • Personal or work experience of working with diversity e.g. disabled people, people from different cultures.

  • Competent in word processing (Word 2002 is used in the department), spreadsheet packages (Excel is used in the department) and databases (Datix is used in the department).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Numerate
  • Competent in using other software (such as Web authoring software) - Desirable
  • Must be willing to work within the Trusts policies e.g. confidentiality, data protection, health and safety etc.
  • Able to attend occasional early evening meetings - Desirable

  • GCSE in English and Maths or Equivalent
