set hours Monday 1 pm - 4.30 pm (3.5hrs), Thursday 1 pm to 6 pm (5hrs) and Friday 8.30 am to 4 pm (7hrs). Total 15.5 hours per week.
The main duties of the post are to provide a courteous and efficient customer service to patients and an effective administrative support to the doctors, nurses, pharmacist and practice manager. The administrator is often first point of contact, which patients have with the practice and therefore must exhibit good, effective communication, interpersonal and administrative skills. The post holder must also have the ability to use initiative and respond appropriately to an emergency situation.

Front Desk Reception Duties
Administrator computerised patients appointment request system
Operate the practice's demanding telephone system efficiently and courteously
Operate the practice computer system with responsibility for accurately updating and maintaining patient records, in line with requirements under UK GDPR
Manage patient telephone requests in an effective and efficient manner
Deal with requests for acute and repeat prescriptions and ensure delivery of processes required to meet a consistently high standard of service to patients
Operate a daily communication channel to Practice Health Care Team to ensure up to date information is shared.
Deal with general patient enquiries, directing and guiding appropriate consultations.
Provide cover for other posts as and when required and directed to do so by the practice manager.
Essential Criteria
4 GCSE's including English and Maths Grades A-C or equivalent OR
NVQ/GNVQ Level II in Business Administration AND
One year's experience of working with the public, gained within the past 5 years AND
Demonstrate an understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for discretion and confidentiality.
Desirable Criteria
One Year's administrative experience within a General Practice or similar clinical setting.
Knowledge and experience in the operation of computer system currently used in General Practice i.e EMIS WEB, Apolloscan, Microsoft Word, Excel etc
